Belle De Boskoop Apple

Belle de Boskoop comes from Boskoop in the Netherlands where it was obtained by seeds of Reinette de Montfort, in the middle of the 1800s. The danish Jutland Horticultural Society recommends in 1899 Belle de Boskoop for planting on the better soils.

The tree is fast growing and is becoming a broad crowned tree. It is fertile, but has a strong tendency for annual bearing if not thinned at an early stage. There are good resistance against diseases. Flowering is medium early. The variety is triploid and can not pollinate other apple varieties.

Apples are large and irregular. The base color is dark green and deck color is red. The fruits are often covered with a yellow-brown russet coating. The new clones is more red with less russet.

The flesh is firm, rather coarse and dry. The flavor is tart with a strong aroma.

Can be picked first half of October and can be stored for a long time.

Belle de Boskoop is a highly prized cooking apple. If allowed to mature on the tree, it becomes a tasty eating apple.

Good apple variety to the garden.
