Aldenham Purple, red fleshed apple variety. (Aldenhamensis Aldenham Crabapple).

Is an English apple with red flesh that is bred in Aldenham House, Hertfordshire in 1925. One of the parents is Niedzwetzkyana. Scion I've gotten from Sweden, where the apple is called Aldenham purpuräpple.

The tree is medium-sized, healthy and fruitful. A large fruiting can make the tree bears only every other year.

The apple is small, shiny red with red flesh. When it is ripe, it is sweet with a good flavor. It is mature in August and can be stored a few weeks.

It can be used as eating apple, but is particularly suitable as a cooking apple for decorative purposes.

The apple may be confused with Niedzwetzkyana which is smaller, with dark red meat and do not taste good.
