Prinzen Apfel

Prinzen Apfel originally from Holstein in Germany. It is a seedling, probably formed in 1700. It has been known in Denmark since 1795th. It was found in the Royal Fruit tree Nursery in Odense in 1795th. Prinzen Apfel are mentioned in the Royal Danish Garden Society list of recommended varieties from 1849.

The variety has been widely known in Northern Europe and has been known by many names such as. Nonnetit melon apple, Trumpeter Apfel, Pomme de Prince and others.

The apple is medium to large with a length of 73 mm and a diameter of 68 mm, measured at the widest point. The shape is elongate, roll formed and asymmetrical. Apples ground color is greenish-yellow. Cover color is red. Cover color covers approx. 75% of the apple. Apples topcoat is weak with distinct stripes. The flesh is white with green veins. That's fine, firm, not very juicy, but a pleasant tart taste and with a strong and distinctive aroma. The smell is strong and spicy.

Prinzen Apfel is a very fine eating apple. It is harvested from 1 October and has excellent storage properties.
