Maribelle apple
Maribelle is a new apple variety from the Dutch breeder Sonnaville. The apple is a cross between Gloster and Meiprinses who again are crossed with Elstar. It is also marketed as a club variety under the name Lola.
The variety is very healthy, with strong growth. The tree is erect with drooping branches.
It is reasonable resistance against scab and powdery mildew, but has a low susceptibility to cancer. It is not recommended for organic farming in Denmark. It gives a very high yield of large apples. Is a good pollinator for other varieties requiring a late flowering pollinator.
The apple has a nice color that goes from pink to red with green base color. The apple is large, oblong to conical in shape. Is typically between 75 and 85mm. The apple is very firm, crunchy and juicy. It is very aromatic, with a good sugar / acid balance.
Maribelle is a very fine eating apple with long shelf life.
Apple is picked in early October and eaten from October to May.
