The name in estonian are Veiniõun. In estonian veini means wine and õun means apple. Therefore, I call the apple Estonian Wine Apple.

The variety was developed in Estonia in the 1950s by clematis expert Uuno Kivistik.

The fruit is medium to large, nearly full red. The special feature is that also the flesh is red. The reddish color is also seen in the xylem. Very rare variety. Large red flowers. The flavour is tart.
